Service Areas & Booking
What areas do you service?
Busy Drones Cleaners is based in Yuma, Arizona and operates across Arizona and Southern California. In Arizona we regularly service Yuma, Somerton, San Luis, Wellton, Fortuna Foothills, Phoenix, Scottsdale, Mesa, Tempe, Glendale, Peoria, Avondale, Casa Grande, Tucson, Marana, and Oro Valley. In California we serve El Centro, Calexico, Imperial, Brawley, San Diego, Chula Vista, Oceanside, Carlsbad, Vista, El Cajon, La Mesa, and Bonita. If your property is outside these regions, call or text us — we travel for larger jobs and can often add nearby cities to existing route days.
How do I book a cleaning?
The fastest way is to text photos and your ZIP code to 928-509-0360. We send a flat-rate quote back, usually within an hour. You can also call directly or fill out the quick quote form on any page. We do not require an in-person walk for most residential jobs — photos are enough to lock in pricing.
Do I need to be home during the cleaning?
For exterior-only jobs (solar panels, exterior windows, roof, building exteriors, surface cleaning), no — we just need gate codes and water spigot access. For interior window cleaning or commercial badged buildings, yes, or you can leave a designated point of contact. We confirm all access details by text the night before.
How quickly can you get out to my property?
Within Yuma we typically schedule within the same week, often same- or next-day for smaller residential jobs. Phoenix metro and San Diego County are usually 7–10 days out. Tucson runs on multi-day block scheduling — about every other week. During monsoon season (mid-June through September) demand spikes, so we recommend booking 2–3 weeks ahead in those markets.
Safety, Insurance & FAA
Are your pilots licensed to fly?
Yes. Every drone operator at Busy Drones Cleaners holds an FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate. That means each pilot has passed the FAA aeronautical knowledge exam and is recertified every two years. Part 107 covers airspace classes, weather minimums, flight planning, NOTAMs, and right-of-way rules — the same rigor commercial aviation requires.
Are you insured?
Yes. We carry $1 million in general liability covering the cleaning work itself and a separate $1 million in aviation liability covering drone operations. We are also bonded. We email a Certificate of Insurance directly to property managers, HOAs, and facilities teams before the first visit, and we add additional insureds at no charge.
What about FAA rules and regulations?
We handle all FAA compliance internally — you do not need to do anything. For controlled airspace (near airports or military bases) we file LAANC authorizations before the flight. For larger commercial jobs we file flight plans and NOTAMs as required.
Is drone cleaning actually safer than ladders or scaffolding?
Significantly. Falls from ladders, scaffolding, and lifts are the leading cause of injury and death in commercial cleaning. Drone-based operations keep our entire crew on the ground, eliminating fall risk for our team, your tenants, and guests. There are no ladders against your stucco, no scaffold legs in your courtyard, and no boom lifts blocking your entrance.
Will the drone fly over my neighbors or property line?
We plan flights to stay over the contracted property whenever possible. When we have to cross a property line briefly (corner approaches, complex roofs), we coordinate with affected neighbors in advance. For HOAs and townhome communities we work through the property manager to notify the broader community before the route day.
How the Drone Cleaning Works
How does drone cleaning actually work?
Our drone is paired with a ground-based pure-water tank and pump. Deionized water is pumped through a hose up to a precision spray nozzle on the drone. The pilot positions the drone above the surface — solar panels, windows, roof, facade — and rinses with 0 ppm pure water. No brushes, no soap on the final pass, no foot traffic on the roof. The pure water dries spot-free.
Why pure deionized (DI) water and not soap?
Tap water in Arizona and inland California runs 250–600+ parts per million of dissolved minerals. When tap water dries it leaves calcium and magnesium spots — the same hard-water spots etched into your shower glass. DI water has 0 ppm dissolved minerals, so it dries spot-free without any wiping. Soap is unnecessary on the final pass and would attract dust within hours of drying.
How loud is the drone? Will it disturb my neighbors or hotel guests?
Quieter than a leaf blower and quieter than most pool pumps. Our cleaning drones operate at conversational sound levels — most hotel guests do not even notice the work happening above them. We schedule commercial jobs during business hours specifically because noise is a non-issue.
How long does a typical cleaning take?
A standard residential solar array cleans in 60–90 minutes including setup. Single-family window cleaning runs 45–90 minutes depending on story height and pane count. Roof cleaning typically wraps in 90 minutes plus dwell time. Commercial work is scoped per property — most mid-rise hotels finish in one day instead of the 3–5 days scaffold cleaning would take.
Will water get on my landscaping, pool, or patio furniture?
Pure DI water is plant-safe — no chemicals to runoff. We still tarp delicate plantings, route runoff away from pools and koi ponds, and time spraying so prevailing wind carries any mist away from outdoor furniture and grills. Pets stay inside during the job.
Solar Panel Cleaning
Will cleaning my solar panels really make a difference?
Yes — and the math is well-documented. Department of Energy and Arizona State University studies show desert-region solar panels lose 15–25% of their output to soiling. On a typical 8 kW Phoenix-area system that is $250–$580 per year of lost generation. After cleaning, you usually see the difference on your next billing cycle.
How often should I have my solar panels cleaned?
In Yuma, Phoenix, and the Imperial Valley, twice a year is the right cadence: once before peak summer production starts in May, and once after monsoon season ends in October. Tucson and high-humidity inland markets often need quarterly. Coastal San Diego properties usually do well on a 6-month schedule.
Will drone cleaning void my solar panel warranty?
No. Most panel warranties void only if a contractor walks on the array, uses abrasive brushes, or applies chemicals that strip the anti-reflective coating. Our drone never lands on the roof, never touches the panels, uses only pure DI water, and applies no soap. Manufacturers consider this an approved cleaning method.
Can you clean panels around skylights, HVAC, and chimneys?
Yes. Drone applicators give us pinpoint control — we can clean tile, shingle, and panels right up to vents, skylights, and HVAC units without overspray. We can also pair solar cleaning with a roof soft-wash on the same visit, which saves the trip charge.
Window Cleaning
Will the drone leave water spots on my windows?
No. We rinse with 0 ppm deionized water on the final pass. Pure water has no dissolved minerals, so when it air-dries it leaves nothing behind — that is the science behind a streak-free finish without any wiping or squeegee work.
Can you clean interior windows too?
Yes. The drone handles exterior glass and high-reach elevations. For interiors we use traditional squeegee technique with low-residue solution and microfiber detail. You can book inside-only, outside-only, or both.
Are hard-water spots permanent? Can you remove them?
It depends on the stage. Stage-one mineral deposits (surface film from sprinkler overspray) come off with our DI rinse. Stage-two bonded deposits require a controlled acid treatment. Stage-three etched glass (where minerals have chemically pitted the surface over years) is not fully reversible — at that point it is restoration polishing or pane replacement. Quarterly cleaning prevents stage one from ever progressing.
How tall a building can a drone clean?
Our standard rig services up to roughly 200 feet — about 18 stories of typical commercial floor-to-floor. For taller properties we coordinate higher-payload drones and a Part 107 BVLOS plan with the FAA. Most multi-family, hotel, and Class A office work falls inside the standard envelope.
Roof & Exterior Cleaning
What is the difference between soft wash and pressure wash on a roof?
Pressure washing uses 2,500–4,000 PSI of mechanical force, which strips shingle granules, dislodges tiles, and forces water under the underlayment. Soft wash uses under 500 PSI — about garden-hose pressure — combined with a low-strength biocide that kills the algae and biofilm at the root. The result lasts 3–5 years instead of 6 months.
Will roof cleaning damage my landscaping or pool?
No, when applied correctly. Our soft-wash chemistry is biodegradable and rinses to neutral pH. We pre-wet adjacent shrubs to dilute any drift, tarp delicate plantings, and route runoff away from pools and ponds. Pets stay inside during application.
How often should I have my roof cleaned in Arizona?
In Phoenix and Tucson, every 3–4 years is typical. Yuma and the Imperial Valley can stretch to 5 years because dry heat suppresses algae. Coastal San Diego properties often need 18–24 month cycles because marine humidity accelerates organic growth.
Can you clean stucco, concrete, brick, and metal facades?
Yes — each substrate gets matched chemistry. Stucco gets soft-wash. Concrete and tilt-up panels get hot-water surface cleaning. Brick and historic masonry get pH-balanced wash. EIFS and metal panels get coating-safe biodegradable detergents below the manufacturer pressure spec.
Commercial, Hotels & Recurring Service
Do you offer recurring service contracts for HOAs and property managers?
Yes. We do quarterly, monthly, and event-driven routes for HOAs, hotels, and Class A office portfolios. Pricing is locked for 24 months on any recurring contract. One PO covers the year, one phone number reaches the same crew every visit.
How does drone cleaning affect tenant occupancy or hotel guests?
It generally does not. We do not set scaffolding, do not require tenant waivers, and do not tape off whole elevations. Most jobs finish during business hours with no occupancy impact. For hotels, that means zero rooms taken offline — versus 5–15 rooms displaced during traditional scaffold cleanings.
Are you compliant with municipal stormwater and water-discharge rules?
Yes. We use biodegradable, pH-neutral chemistries that pass municipal storm-drain standards in Phoenix, Tucson, San Diego, and across our service area. For environmentally regulated sites we deploy reclaim systems that capture rinse water for offsite disposal through a licensed waste hauler.
Can we get a Certificate of Insurance and W-9 on file?
Yes. We email a COI to your property manager or facilities team before the first visit. Additional insureds are added at no charge. We also submit a W-9 and lien waivers with every invoice.
Pricing, Estimates & Membership
How much does drone cleaning cost?
Drone cleaning typically prices 30–50% below traditional bids because we eliminate boom-lift rentals ($500–$2,000+/day), scaffolding, and reduced labor hours. Residential solar starts in the low hundreds. Window cleaning runs $8–$22 per pane depending on story height. Surface cleaning runs $189–$349 for typical residential jobs. Commercial pricing is per-square-foot or flat-rate per elevation.
Do you give free estimates?
Yes. Text us photos and your ZIP code and we send back a flat written quote — usually within the hour. No on-site walk required for most residential jobs. For commercial properties we may request a brief drone-flyover assessment to scope accurately.
How long is a quote good for?
Quotes are honored for 30 days from the date sent. After that we may need to refresh pricing if fuel, water, or materials costs have shifted. Recurring contracts lock pricing for 12 months regardless of market changes.
What is the Hive Membership program?
Hive is our maintenance plan: bi-annual or annual scheduled cleaning at preferred rates, member discounts on additional services, priority scheduling during peak season, and before/after photo documentation. Queen Plan adds monthly or quarterly cleanings, a free annual screen/skylight cleaning, special pricing on solar maintenance, on-demand emergency cleaning, and a dedicated account manager.
How do I pay?
We accept credit/debit cards, ACH bank transfer, and checks. Residential jobs are paid on completion after walkthrough. Commercial recurring contracts are invoiced monthly with Net 15 or Net 30 terms. We never collect payment before signoff.
Weather, Monsoon & Rescheduling
What if it rains right after you clean?
Rain on clean glass and panels dries clear because there is nothing on the surface for it to mix with. The streaks people associate with rain come from rain hitting dirty glass. If a freak monsoon dumps mud within 48 hours of a cleaning, call us and we will come back and re-rinse.
Do you fly drones during monsoon season?
Yes — between storms. We monitor the radar in real time. If wind exceeds Part 107 limits or a storm cell is approaching, we reschedule. After a haboob or major storm, we recommend booking post-storm cleaning within 48 hours before the next rain cycle bakes mud onto surfaces.
Can you clean in winter?
Yes. Our service area has mild winters — Yuma, Phoenix, and San Diego all run year-round. Higher-elevation Prescott has tighter winter windows; we schedule around freeze warnings since pure water on glass can ice up below 36°F.
What is your cancellation or rescheduling policy?
No charge to reschedule with 24 hours notice. We will reschedule weather-driven days at no charge regardless of timing — we never charge for re-treatments or revisits caused by weather we should have called.
